Mission and Vision

IMHR’s Mission

IMHR’s mission is to partner with Arizona researchers and direct care providers in order to support broad-based, innovative mental health research.

IMHR’s Vision

Founded in 2001, the IMHR is the only statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to mental health research in the United States.

The vision of IMHR is advancing solutions to Arizona families in the areas of mental illnesses and well-being throughout their lifespans. Working with our scientists and clinical partners, IMHR will integrate, align, and increase research by:

  • Providing seed grants to promising scientists
  • Recruiting talented scientists to the state of Arizona
  • Unlocking larger sources of funds for research
  • Partnering with clinicians to impact patients and their families through educational programs

Located in the Phoenix area, the Institute has collaborated with and provided grants to scientists and clinicians at:

  • Arizona State University
  • The University of Arizona
  • Northern Arizona University
  • Banner Health
  • T-GEN
  • Sun Health Research Institute
  • Mayo Clinic Arizona
  • St. Joseph’s Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute
